Q: Can we see the Mississippi River? 

A: Yes, from several locations around Wickliffe.

Q: Can we see where the Ohio and the Mississippi flow together?

A: Yes, from Fort Jefferson Hill, the site of the Fort Jefferson Park and Memorial Cross.

Q: What about Wickliffe Mounds? 

A: Wickliffe Mounds is a State Historic Site, and a major research location for the study of the Mississippian Native American culture.

Q: What about hunting, fishing, wildlife and waterfowl? 

A: Yes, we have abundant hunting and fishing opportunities in the Wickliffe area, including Swan Lake and many other Wildlife Management Areas which allow public hunting.

Q: Is there a boat ramp where we can put our boat into the Mississippi/Ohio river? 

A: YES, on the Wickliffe riverfront.  Another boat ramp is available at Cairo, IL, just across the river.

Q: What about Fort Jefferson? 

A: The City of Wickliffe owns the Park known as Fort Jefferson Park, which features a fantastic view of the Confluence of the Rivers, the Fort Jefferson Memorial Cross, and an opportunity to see where Lewis and Clark started their trek westward to the Pacific over 200 years ago!!

Q: Are there restaurants, grocery stores where we can get supplies for our trip? 

A: YES, Wickliffe has a supermarket, several convenient stores, “dollar stores” and other retail outlets for your travelling, camping, and recreational needs.

Q: What else is there to do? 

A: BE sure and visit the Wickliffe City Park, where each year the weekend after Labor Day, Wickliffe celebrates the Harvest Festival.  The park is fun for kids year round!

Q: Are there historic homes and buildings in the area? 

A: Yes.  Visit the Barlow House just 7 miles from Wickliffe at Barlow, KY, and the historic Ballard County Courthouse was built in 1903, and has been completely restored in recent years.
