Services in Wickliffe
Wickliffe City Hall, Court Street, Headquarters for City of Wickliffe. The City of Wickliffe, KY is the duly constituted government of the municipality established under the laws of the Commonwealth to serve the citizens within the city limits. As such, we are responsible for utility services, city streets and roads, police and fire protection, and all the normal city services for our residents. We are funded by city taxes, and by bills for the city utilities, i.e. water, sewer, trash collection, etc.
We have initiated the Wickliffe Renaissance Main Street Program, through the Kentucky Heritage Council, and with this program will be working to revitalize downtown Wickliffe. We received a Grant from the Department of Local Government, Commonwealth of Kentucky for Recreational Trails at Fort Jefferson Park on Fort Jefferson Hill, overlooking the confluence of the Ohio with the Mississippi.
We have also received a Grant from the federal EDA (Economic Development Administration) for a Master Plan for our Port of Wickliffe. In the past year, more than 100 jobs have been created by river industry companies in the Port of Wickliffe, adding to the 25 jobs already located on the riverfront. With the Master Plan, the City is poised to take advantage of our unique strategic location at the confluence of America's two great Rivers . . . . . the Ohio and the Mississippi. Wickliffe is truly the place where the "mighty Mississippi" gets rollin' south to the Gulf, after the blue green Ohio flows in from the east to join the "muddy Mississippi flowing in from the north and west!
The river is the common theme to our economic development, both in terms of jobs in the river industry companies, and jobs in tourism!
In addition to the above, the City also sponsors:
- The annual Wickliffe Harvest Festival, the weekend after Labor Day
- Memorial Day Celebration in honor of our Veterans
- Thanksgiving/Christmas Tree Lighting the day before Thanksgiving
- And many other activities through the year
